The ninth book in the Windfall series is ready for “Beta” readers! It’s called “Windfall: The Leavening.” Like the rest of the Windfall series, there’s action, and it’s gritty and earthly. Not a children’s book. Not recommended if you’re squeamish or easily offended. And in case you are wondering, yes, this is book 9 in this series (and there are 15 more to go), but there is a timeline synopsis at the beginning of the book that should get you up to speed. (Just remember, there have been almost 1.2 million words and over 3400 pages before this one!! So… there may be some initial confusion!!!)
However, this is also the first book in the second octet (i.e. books 9-16). There are three octets altogether. This book begins The Revelation Opus so it is a bit of a reset and a new beginning!
Beta reading is pretty simple. I send you a free copy of the book. You read it. You give me any kind of input and I put your name in the acknowledgements at the end of the book when I put out the production version. “Windfall: The Leavening” is 477 pages long. I plan to send out the books the first week of October 2018, and the deadline for input will be November 15, 2018 (which means you’ll have approximately six weeks to read it).
I’m not exactly sure how many copies I’m going to order. Amazon.com is shutting down CreateSpace.com and forcing everyone to move to KDP.Amazon.com. Unfortunately, there are new rules for publishing there. I uploaded all the standard files on Sunday (9/16/2018) and I am three iterations into the review process and I can’t seem to get them to approve the files. The formatting in all correct, but I keep getting this generic message about the fact the “title, subtitle, edition, or series in your manuscript file doesn’t match the book details.” And I have no idea what they are talking about!
So, I may need to set up the book on lulu.com and order the books from there this time around until I figure out the magic incantation. Unfortunately, the author copies on lulu.com are almost twice as expensive as KDP.Amazon.com… so I may be ordering fewer copies. We’ll see.
